Testimonials

After 35 years of training in various Martial Arts then joining Dominance, I finally found out what it was like to be effectively coached and not "instructed at". The environment created by Cam and Dave is uncompromising in it's delivery of quality, yet allows me to progress at my own pace and be challenged accordingly. I have now been training there for three years, three times per week and very much look forward to every session I attend.

I've been associated with Dominance for 7 years and have seen this club grow into an exceptional training facility.  Dominance offers me a range of opportunities which complement my ju jitsu, such as a dedicated Women's class, strength and conditioning programs and competition support.  I've found training at Dominance to be a rewarding experience - the coaches are motivated and have high skill sets, they recognise hard work, and they encourage us to be good training partners. And most of all, it's still fun!

I have done jiu-jitsu since I was 9. I do the teens class, and its awesome. We have a fun time, whilst learning essential skills, to be able to defend ourselves. Our instructors are the best you can hope for, and the facilities are amazing. I love competing, and trying my best to win for the academy, because listening, and paying fees and winning, are nothing, compared to the time, effort and knowledge our instructors give you.

As a National Judo team member, I used to travel across Melbourne to 3 different clubs to ensure a good mix of partners and quality of training.  Dominance packages the volume of training, elite level coaching and great mix of partners I require in the one location under the instruction of National Coach, Daniel Kelly.  Better still, it offers (and encourages) cross-training in other martial arts which has made me the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been and hungry to keep going.  Since training at Dominance my rank has improved to #1 in Judo, being selected to represent Australia at the World Championships... but even better, my cross-training has paid off with a #1 rank in Freestyle wrestling and Commonwealth Games later this year.

I’ve been training in Dominance for over 2 years now. I enjoy practicing Muay Thai here because beyond the fitness regime there is a strong focus on martial arts. It’s great training here with such a spacious, clean and well maintained site and most of the instructors are very experienced.

- Ching Yin, Muay Thai

I have been training BJJ for 6 years and the facilities and quality of instruction at Dominance Mixed Martial Arts is simply the best around. What really sets DMMA apart though is it's great vibe and it's friendly atmosphere. Everyone is extremely welcoming and helpful - there are no bad attitudes. I couldn't recommend any academy more than DMMA to anyone interested in training BJJ.

- David Marinakis, BJJ

My son Leo has loved his experience learning brazilian jujitsu with Dave Hart and the team at Dominance.  Over a 2 year period he has gained in strength and agility.  His increased strength has helped him with other activities such as swimming and tennis.  He has gained in maturity and self-discipline through the rigorous training sessions.  He has learnt the importance of respect and honesty, for his teachers, his friends, and himself, through working in a group.  He has been able to extend himself and has had invaluable opportunities to experience leadership amongst his peers.  We are really impressed by the kind but firm leadership shown to the children in the classes.  There is always a supportive and positive atmosphere in the gym, and Leo always looks forward to his training sessions.

With any sporting pursuit, it’s the people you train with, learn from, and compete with that either make or break it. The people at Dominance MMA are, without doubt, a significant reason jiu-jitsu has become an important fixture in my week and life. After 25 years playing ice hockey I decided to hang up the skates and find another sporting challenge. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was the perfect fit. The students at Dominance are from diverse backgrounds but universally supportive and Dave and Cam are both fantastic instructors. They must be, I won my first competition as a white belt and it certainly wasn’t the result of any natural aptitude! It’s been a great experience so far and, hopefully, will be for many years to come.

- Nick Etchells, BJJ & Judo

Dominance was one of the best things I have ever done. I have been going to Dominance for about a year and a half now and I couldn’t see myself without it. The training is as good as it gets, with professionals that have been in the business for many years. When I first joined the gym everyone was welcoming and very kind, and it hasn’t changed since. I live miles away from the gym in Essendon which is a hassle, but the traveling is worth it. The trainers are very committed and give you the best opportunity to advance in your field, whether it be Muay Thai or BJJ, or even both; which is the way to go! If you’re looking to get fit and wanna learn some MMA from pros, Dominance is the place for you.
